In my opinion, the most impressive presentation is “Pink
Films”. The presenter is Baixin Ye. When it comes to “Pink Films”, I will be
pretty shy and ashamed. Because I thought that pink films are related to sex
and salacity. But Baixin Ye could explain
this topic clearly, so I have learned much more. She told us that “Pink Films”
is a unique cinematic genre in Japan. The history of pink films can date back
to the early 1960s. The predominant features of pink movies are as follows. First
of all, pink movies are low-budget independent
films. Secondly, pink movies should be
shot on 35mm film. Thirdly, pink movies include sexual content. It is
worthwhile to note that they are different from AV. In addition, pink movies
are shown at their own chain of specialty theatres.
Now that I have a whole new understanding of “Pink Films”, I have grown quite fond of it. In my opinion, “Pink Films” is a sex film genre
that developed in its connections to various oppositional discourses stemming
from literature, social conflict, transforming gender roles, urban planning and film-theoretical debates. She
recommended us some extraordinarily memorable and worth-watching films, such as
Flower and Snake (1974), Crazed Fruit (1956) and Daydream (1964). I will watch
them when I have time. I really enjoy her presentation.
