402050029 吳思穎 影傳一

Second week of the poster presentation, unlike the first week, I was one of the audience. This week, it’s my turn to present my poster to others. I spent a lot of time designing my poster as well as doing all the research to collect more information to share with the classmates. I was very excited. So here I present to you my final project.

My final project was about my favorite youtubers, Wong Fu productions.

i.) Who?
Wong Fu Productions is an American filmmaking group composed of Wesley Chan, Ted Fu, and Philip Wang.

ii.) When?
Wong Fu Productions first started making videos in 2003 in college at UC San Diego.

iii.)What?
As a growing independent production company they work full-time  on various parts of their business. Primarily known for their YouTube channel with over 2 million subscribers and 300 million views, they create short films, music videos and vlogs for their large and loyal fanbase. They also started a successful merchandise brand of apparel, Nice Guy Design, and a plush toy line, Awkward Animal.

iv.)How?
In 2004, three of them began working on small scale projects in their spare time and for class assignments. After graduation in 2006, the three continued their venture under the professional name Sketchbook Media. After approximately five years of hard work, Wong Fu Productions finally hit 1 million subscribers in 2011.

v.)More Information
Wong Fu Productions was initially known for its independent music videos of contemporary hit songs such as Maroon 5's "Sunday Morning" and Jason Mraz's "I'm Yours". Wong Fu released its first major short film called Yellow Fever on January 25, 2006, which satirized the topic of interracial dating between Asian Americans and White Americans.

Then I introduced their first major short film Yellow Fever. In this video, they talked about why is that all the Asian girls prefer white guys then the Asian guys. I listed stereotypes of white guys and asian guys. And discussed with the classmates whether they agree with all those stereotypes. This short film ended with a conclusion that it’s not the matter of races. The most important thing is to be yourself and have confidence in yourself.

Besides my own poster, I’ve also seen some other posters. One of the posters that caught my eye is this poster done my 江澤威
His topic was about Name Wee. The reason I was very interested in his poster is because Name Wee is very famous in Malaysia. He writes songs, produces music videos, directed a few movies, he also has his own talk show on Youtube.

Lastly, I would say that I’ve learnt a lot from all the posters. And I enjoy making my own posters as well.
