影傳一 402050689 楊心妤 Topic: Hula Girls

I was very nervous about this presentation because I haven’t presented my report in English since senior high school. I was afraid that I might standing in front of my poster and don’t know what to say.
In this presentation, I chose a Japanese film, called Hula Girls. I think it is a great movie because it mentions many difficulties during 1960s in Asia. The country was going to transform the Secondary industrial sectors into the Tertiary industrial sectors, and the little town, which produced mine to live their life, was forced to face the problem. This issue not only happened in Japan, but also happened in many Asian countries. Besides, in this film, it also talks about women’s social status and values in Asian.
About twenty to thirty years ago in Asia, women always treated like a house servant. They have to stay at home and do all the housework, or listen to what their parents had arranged for them. Due to the society and economic, they didn’t have many chances to pursue their own dreams or do what they really want to do. In Hula Girls, it reflected these problems. Although these girls encountered many obstacles, they still had a strong heart. Instead of giving up, they persisted in what they love and what they wanted to do. It is a good attitude that we can learn from this movie.

My presentation was in June 6, because of the limited time, I had to introduce my poster in brief, but I’m glad that I didn’t forget what I want to say and try my best to stretch the point. In short, it was a very special experience.
(Sorry, I forgot to take a picture.)
