"Raise
The Red Lantern" is one of the topics which the most impress me in this
presentation. Because I really love Yimou Zhang,
and "Raise The Red Lantern" is also one of my favorite Asian movie.
This film is talking Chinese traditional women, Nineteen-year-old Songlian marries into the wealthy Chen
family, becoming the fourth wife. This film accusing the powers of the men and
the unfortunate of the women in the Chinese traditional family.
The most interesting
and special thing in this film is the husband never show his face in all the
time. This show the sexist as well as the man's power in the film. And the film
has been interpreted by some critics as a criticism of contemporary.
In addition, in my
opinion, I am more appreciate the third wife than Songlian, because the
third wife at least know how to enjoy her life, although she finally had a very
tragic destiny.
