At the very first, I want to introduce the movie of Peter Chan陳可辛. Because I like the movie style of Peter Chan very much. Especially the movie <wu xia>. When I am thinking about what to present, I think just featuring some scene that will be too dull. So I decided to compare the difference between traditional martial art to modern martial art though the movie <wu xia>

I think the feature of tradition martial art movie is talking about Chinese Ethics, It is about Chinese justice and spirits. They want to build up a model of moral, goodness. And everyone should learn from this model to become a good man. So the moral model is a kind of universal. The story background usually take place in "jia wu",people in "jia wu" usually good at different kind of "kong fu". They like to solve problem by fighting each other. The winner take all the reputation and glory.

On the other side, modern martial art movie focus more on plot. The personal emotion part become focal point of the whole movie. In <wu xia>, there are only three action scene. Most of the scene focus on the story of two main character. The action part is no longer the most exciting and attractive part. The movie is more inspiring than the traditional. Audience decided what's right and what's wrong by himself. Modern martial art movie is a advancement to traditional martial art movie.

Lastly, I think the difference of kong fu movie and martial art movie is kong fu movie focus on action, martial art focus on plot.
