My Favorite Filmmaker

everyone! My name is Dong Yanan. Now I major in Chinese Literature. I am an
exchange student. My hometown is Shanxi Taiyuan. I come from Zhejiang University Of Media and Communications. I have
interest in watching movies, playing the piano, singing and playing badminton. Nice
to meet you. Hope we can get along well with each other.
My favorite filmmaker is Zhang Yimou. He has engaged in photographer and actor
for several years, and then he is a very famous director. He is one of the
Fifth Generation Directors. He is an absolutely outstanding filmmaker. Surprisingly,
he has won 52 awards in the world. Generally
speaking, not only is he good at formalism， but also he is expert in realism. What’s more, he has the courage to choose new actors, such
as Gong Li，Zhang Ziyi, Zhou Dongyu and Shawn Dou. As
far as I’m concerned, he is a man of great vision.
In his movies, my favorite movie is Under the Hawthorn Tree. The film is a
pure love story. The style of the film is realistic and plain. The dramatist is
Yin Lichuan. She adapted Ai Mi’s like-named novel for screenplay. The actors of
the play are Zhou Dongyu and Shawn Dou. Although the actors are new and
inexperienced, the film sets a box office record. The hero and the heroine have
a poignant romance. The film makes me quite sad. In brief, the film is extremely
sorrowful and moving. It is an excellent work of art.
