Movie
is really a magical invention. Through the images and sounds, we can
not only see a story, but also undergo a mental journey. Mong-Hong
Chung(鍾孟宏) is a Taiwanese director and cinematographer. His movies always
bring me to amazing journeys. Chung’s movies tend to talk about
some mental and social issues, and stimulate deep thought.
"The
Fourth Portrait" is one of my favorite movie. It revealed
the problems of domestic violence and immigrant residents, which are
really important social issues. These seem boring but not. Chung shot
the movie with his amazing stylized photographic aesthetics. Each
image is meaningful and makes the movie as beautiful as a painting. I
love his aesthetics of violence which makes violence not that bloody
but more gently and full of suspense. Chung's movies not only create beautiful journeys, but also reveal his social concern. I do love him.
