 Before i start to share my answers of the two questions. i want to share everyone one of my favorite movie first (cause i haven't hand in my first homework XD ).It's called CENTRAL STATION. It has been published for 16 years. I like the movie because i am so touched by the story including many kind of human nature.The story is not only show the good part of human being, like sharing and sincereness, but also the other part. Well and truly display everything is the reason why it interested me.

And now it's time to talk about this picture. I would say that the director want to fully show us the process of the development of cinema of Korea. And the picture it's showing that an old woman wearing tradition dresses is doing a kind of ceremony. I choose the picture because after i watched the documentary film i discovered that although Hollywood become more and more powerful in Korea, they wouldn't forget to inherit their own culture. That makes them stay unique and can't be replaced by anyone.

1.I think the historical view point of korean films is  they are really telling a faith,telling people a thought they believe in.
2.The scene of the leader of 東學黨 taking photos before executed death sentence impress me,that was the protesting of farmer that days that remind me of the protesting now happening in Taiwan.

The frist pic is a farmer who was protesting.it remind me how analogous between Taiwan and Korea  about role  in history.

The  second pic is the movie  “ticket ”,made by 林權擇.this movie let me think about 侯孝賢,their technique of movie is very similar.besides,this movie annotate about 妓女 in Korea,those 妓女 talk of mode r very real,and they reflect what is the social status in Korea at that time.

This movie is The Game of Death is an incomplete 1973 Hong Kong martial arts film directed, written, produced by and starring Bruce Lee, in his final film attempt. Bruce Lee died during the making of the film.

  Small as well as slant eyes, and the straight mustache that grows downward past the lips are two of Fu Manchu's facial characteristics. Besides, he is intelligent and wicked. He is the evil who uses the chemical weapons and others which are toxic for murder. Fu Manchu may represent the Yellow Peril, to show the stereotype of Chinese by the white. 

  All the actors of Fu Manchu in films are white because Asian actors have lower status comparing to the westerns. Though the Asian actors are much suit to play the role, they seldom have the chance to be the main character.

In any country or any time，we can not find the true fairness. But we also can notice a lot of nice changes with the development of the time and national participation. Such as one of the most great Chinese actor called Burce Lee. He started a new era about America action movie, and he showed the ability to all the audiences around how powerful that the Chinese guy is.

     Although Asians werer prejudiced in America,Bruce Lee changed  Asians' movie image in Hollywood a lot.Before years ago,Asians represented  weakness and  incompotent in Americans' eyes. Until Bruce Lee's appearance,his Kung fu ended up to conquer everyone's impression to Chinese or Asians. Then,many Asians could show up in Hollywood.

Zombie is an icon in Asia and despite this picture is a foreign acting, we can know that foreigner think Asian is very horrible and evil.

So when they were acting Asian, they almost were negative character.

What is Asian？In the view of westners,they know Asia through films.But those movies are not made by Asians most of time.It's worse that they bring westners some stereotypes. For examples,asian men are cowards,life style is boring and everyone does kong fu,etc. Becaue of the third one,I chose this shot .The man in the picture,Bruce Lee,is a kong fu star and also the symbol of  martial art all over the world.So I thought that he affected the asian image in westners' mind a lot.

This is the most impressive picture i had seen in the documentary.There's a man dressed like a Chinese official of China in the past. Sitting in front of a Chinese style table in a Chinese style building.What impressed me was that the man was playing chess. For me, that just looks like a football game with all the players wearing clogs. I think that's because the audience or the movie maker can't fully accept or understand Chinese culture. In the process of cultural exchange, such things might happen in any other ways.

In the documentary film, there are three images that impress me most-the Chinese man with phoenix eyes and moustache, a man wearing a pair of round glasses who looks spineless standing between two stairs, and a young man who try to build his body in front of a wall posted Bruce Lee’s picture.

Westerners seem to have some stereotypes about Asian people. I think it’s strongly related to the history. Overviewing the history, Asian world didn't develop as fast as Western- no matter in economic or military. So, Asian country often became other country’s colony. I guess that the reason why they will give Asian male the weak image.

Once, Hollywood didn't emphasizes on Asian actors. After the appearance of Bruce Lee, the status of Asians in Hollywood improve. Therefore, Bruce Lee is the representative of Asia.

 He was wearing tight uniform with a funny bowknot.

He had a butch haircut and a glistening forehead.

He had also done something foolish which made the customer awkward. 

All these things made this Asian man looked stupid and ridiculous.

The Asian man tried to attract the white woman and asked her if he could sit beside her, but the woman rejected him and gave him an excuse, she said she would like to sit in front of him, in that way, she didn't need to turn her neck.

In this section, we can see the awkwardness between two races, especially Asian man and white woman.

Romeo must die

Jet Li hugging the main actress instead of kissing her. As they said in the documentary: They should have kept the kissing scene, because it fits more. Even though they tried it in front of a small audience, they should still have kept the original scene. Even thought it might have looked weird or unusual, it was better to start a change and let the people see the original version.

Actually, from these movies I never thought of Asian male being asexual, but I rather thought they were strong (in fighting) and wise, and that is why they are not easy to seduce.

The Jet Li movie "Kiss of the Dragon" made me think that way, since Jet Li (in the movie) is refusing any close contact to the actress but still helps her a lot.

But it surely did have a big influence on our society, and hope we (and especially hollywood) can change something in the future.

Hollywood has always been unfair in its portrayal of Asians. Asians are shown as cowardly and impotent in the face of danger.

Hi. My name is Esther. I’m sophomore in textile design. 

  Miyazaki Hayao is definitely the film maker who effects me most. Though watching his films since little, I knew the meaning he wanted to deliver during growing up. It's interesting that I have different feelings and thoughts when seeing his films in different ages. 

  As my major and interest relate to art, Miyazaki is my role model. He is full of imagination, and he always manages to transfer the abstract ideas into concreteness. In his works, we can enjoy the delicate pictures drawn in traditional way by hands. He's devoted to his work to present the best animation to the world.

The person in the front of the photo is me. My name is Angel, major in occupational therapy. I’m interested in beautiful things, such as films, music, literature and delicacies.

Recently, I have seen a movie-Hand, directed by Kar Wai Wong. The film described a repressive relationship between a tailor and his “customer”. To show the repressive emotion, Kar Wai Wang uses many movie languages, such as the symbol of the mirror, the color and the light in his work. The astringent characteristic of Asian people shows up in his film.

First is REALISTIC, second is DAILY-LIFE,the last is NORMAL-PEOPLE.Because most Asia films focus on our surrounding environment,the scenes in the films are familiar. Compared with Hollywood Film, Asia Film takes more interest in showing the life of low-class people. Anyway,we love both kinds of movies.

HeLlO every one in this course.I'm Chen Chien Liang(Jason Chen) who is a senior student majors in Business Administration . My favorite filmmaker is a Taiwanese person -- Wu,Nien-Jen. He produces many famous and touching movies such like “The Sandwich Man”,”Time Story”,” Dou Sang”.He’s not only a auteur but also a writer .Many of his subjects was nominated in every movie awards. Wu has written more than 70 screenplays that were made into films, and became one of the driving forces for the New Taiwanese Cinema Movement in the early 1980's

He is good at describing characters characteristics and portraying blue collars degree.When watching his movies, sometimes I feel that I’m the person in the movie just like I had just experienced what does the story told.
