Influence, and Bromance

The gangster firms of Hong Kong ,
which has been a huge box-office
success in late 90's and 00's.

At that time, those movies make huge. Not only in Hong Kong , but also
Taiwan.
We would like to look into what the stories about , what sterotypes they create,
and most Importantly, what influences they brings to the society .

Or did they ? The Cultivation Theory said it clearly, but did those movies really makes people change their values and behaviors at that time?

And the changing of these kinds of firms in Hong Kong in recent years are also worth paying attention to.

經由老師建議,我們的主題將改為〈以王家衛電影角色探討香港民族認同問題〉。
Through the professor’s advice , our subject changed to “ The exploration of Hong Kong‘s racial identification by Wong Kar-Wai’s movie actors and actresses”.

在小組討論過程中,引述作品譬如:〈花樣年華〉中張曼玉的中國女性形象、〈重慶森林〉中林青霞美式裝扮,對比香港「重慶大廈」所居住的上海、印度、巴基斯坦等異國人士,甚至〈墮落天使〉中金城武的父親所持有的閩南口音……等,透過王家衛電影角色,釐清香港民族認同脈絡與異國的統治關係。
In the process of our team’s discussion , we referred to several Wong Kar-Wai’s movie productions and quoted those movie’s leading role like : the image of traditional chinese female by Maggie Cheung in movie “In the Mood for Lovethe foreign disguise of Brigitte Lin in movie“Chungking Express” , compared with the foreigners from ShanghaiIndiaPakistanand so on who lived in Chungking Mansions , even the Minnan accent of Takeshi Kaneshiro’s father in movie “Fallen Angels”...... and so forth ,understood the context of Hong Kong‘s racial identification and the governance of foreign countries by Wong Kar-Wai’s movie actors and actresses.

Discussion about the way Hong Kong movies shape topics among homosexuality


在表面開放內裡狹隘的香港,同性戀仍是一個社會上普遍性的禁忌話題。
Nowadays, topics about homosexuality are still considered to be prohibited in Hong Kong society, which is seemed opened on the surface but is actually conservative (constricted) in its inner part.
而香港的電影中其同性戀的人物,對其描述,似乎有著很大程度上的假想與偏差;
In Hong Kong movies, descriptions about homosexual seem to have a plenty of imaginations and misleading information.
電影鞏固了同性戀作為異端、病態、需要被矯正、解決的一種社會問題,
Movies consolidate the thinking that homosexuality, which has been molded to be heretical, sick, requiring for regulation and solving, is one of society issues.
大眾傳媒透過製造及操控這些同志形象,壯大及肯定了異性戀的霸權,也向非異性戀的觀眾提供了暫時的認同樂趣。
By producing and controlling the figure of homosexuals, mass media strengthen and confirm the domination of heterosexuality, meanwhile, providing temporal interest of identification to non-heterosexual audience.

Japanese man are often over self-awareness.
On the other hand, woman are more likely rely on man in certain point,
in man's perception, woman are less important in this society,
they think woman's job are taking care of kids and parents
so man can be able to have a career to support the family,
woman's opinion are often not to be taking seriously.
under this situation,
how could woman in Japan can ever say out loud their voice?
 by the follwing statement, i wll disscuss this topic in further details.

Mother's Image in South Korean Cinema


The family is the smallest unit in the Asian nation. Compared with the individualism of Western society, Asians 
pays much attention to families; thus, the Asian cinema usually use "family" as the main plot film.
Therefore,in the South Korea feature films development history, they often use the theme of "Home"story.
Until now, the concept of "family ethics" is still a very important idea in Soyth Korea.
However,we all know that there is a saying“man are breadwinners; women are homemakers," is a traditional standpoint in Asia. 
The drama usually use mother as the main character in the "family story" and protray the women emotions and the meaning of family. It brings audiences a great joy.

Indian cinema - Islam

Topic: Islam
        First of all, we are going to introduce the religion of Islam then we talk about the views of the movie which is between religions and people, also the effect of race differences, for example, the terrorist attacks, racial discrim ination...ect. And we can understand the point of views of the third party, not all of the devout religious believers are radical or terroristic, for example, the movie which named “My name is Khan, I am not a terrorist”, it’s talking about the leading role, Khan, is innocent to have lots of bad things experiences, because of he just goes through the 911 terrorist attack, and then causing raising a disturbance of anti-Islam all over the country, and the ending story is that the leading role, Khan, writes a letter for the president of the United States to express he is not the terrorist and also says he just wants to be a normal people and have a peaceful life. In this movie, we can see that the different culture may cause difference future and also we can discuss the worth of the culture. Then due to the movie, we can see the leading role who with the Asperger syndrome (AS), and how to show up the spirit of indomitable and resolute.

主題  伊斯蘭教
先簡單介紹伊斯蘭教,再以電影的角度來探討宗教與人之間的關聯,以及對於種族上的差異,所造成的影響。例如:恐怖攻擊、種族歧視等等..,從電影中來了解由第三者的觀點來看,並非所有虔誠的教徒都是激進份子或是恐怖份子。以電影:My name is Khan,I am not a terrorist.我的名子叫可汗,裡的主角可汗,因為剛好經歷美國911恐怖攻擊,引起全國一陣反伊斯蘭教風潮。無辜被牽連到而導致一連串不幸的事情發生,最後主角藉由寫信給美國總統的過程來闡述他並不是恐怖份子,希望大家能夠還給他一個正常生活。根據電影描述手法可以看出擁有亞斯柏格症的主角在這一段過程當中展現出的堅強和不屈饒的精神,文化上的不同造就不一樣未來。因此藉由介紹這一部電影讓大家更了解這些文化背後的意義和價值。

Japan - How they objectify the female


We are going to discuss about the culture "Akiba", and "Mania". How they objectify women. At the begin, "Otaku" means a person who likes playing some particular games or collect some comics, dolls, even some related products. We are going to analyze the culture about Japanese people who have some special hobbies, and therereason why the girl in the movie always have a nice shape. Its easy to know that many characters in the movie all have good looking, nice body, over big eyes, even their chest bigger than basketball. So that they can get some male viewers who prefer a good looking or some over cute characters. In recent years, more and more movies in this way came out.

Title: Chinese film- The ethos and film censorship of Chinese film

     After the “cultural revolution”, the Chinese film had a serious cultural shock. Not only has the subject they could product been limited, but also had their film a serious influence by politics. In 1978 years, it was not until Chinese government opened the innovation up that the directors returned to engage normal creation about humanity regress and arts. From 1980’s to 1990’s, the development of Chinese film had been limited seriously because some subject which give a expression to the dark of the Chinese Communist Party couldn’t pass the film censorship. And it causes some of underground director to produce.     
     After the regress of Hong-Kong, the Hong-Kong film industry has a effect to the these Chinese directors and actors because of its developing. These commercial film which are invested together with Hong-Kong become the mainstream of Chinese film in the last 1990’s.

Japan comfort women



The term "comfort women" was a euphemism used to describe women forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II. We gonna discuss about  the background and women's rights. And we try to figure out  that was organized forced recruitment of comfort women by the Japanese government or military. National violence includes the serious issues about colonization ,army and law. 

It was courageous for them, the comfort women, to unveil what actually happened to them. "The nightmare" they described .We will find the Korean documentaries and Hong Kong ones.
